Intended function: Allow user to finish without answering all questions

Nov 01, 2021

What is the intended function/expected behavior of the Allow user to finish without answering all questions checkbox in the Quizmaker Player as it pertains to using timers and the Submit All options, and what happens if you don't check this option? That is...

  • If the timer has not run down, the Allow user to finish without answering all questions is selected, and the learner clicks Submit All, does the learner just get marked wrong on all remaining questions?
  • What happens if Allow user to finish without answering all questions is unselected and the timer runs out before the learner answers all questions? Do they automatically fail?
  • Is there ever an instance/setting where remaining unanswered questions left when the timer runs out are not included in the scoring?

Hello Alis!

I'm happy to answer these questions for you!

  • If the timer has not run down, the Allow user to finish without answering all questions is selected, and the learner clicks Submit All, does the learner just get marked wrong on all remaining questions?
    • When the learner selects "Submit All," all of the questions are submitted and the questions not answered are marked incorrect.
  • What happens if Allow user to finish without answering all questions is unselected and the timer runs out before the learner answers all questions? Do they automatically fail?
    • If the timer runs out, the learner will see a prompt letting them know the time has run out, and they need to press "OK" to continue. When pressing "OK," the entire quiz is submitted and the questions not answered are marked incorrect.
  • Is there ever an instance/setting where remaining unanswered questions left when the timer runs out are not included in the scoring?
