A thick black border in the window screenshot taken

Oct 11, 2023

Hi,

I want to use the screenshot function inside the Storyline to insert a screenshot for a entire window. I have noticed that a thick black border will always show in the screenshot taken (see the picture below); however if the screenshot is taken from the clipping option, there is no border shown.

A black border shown in the window screenshot inserted:

Any idea how I can get rid of that black border? I have tried selecting 'no outline' in the Picture Outline, but the black border still shows. Thanks!

Hi Hang Su, and welcome to the E-Learning Heroes community!✨

I'm sorry to hear you've hit this snag but I'm happy to help troubleshoot!

I understand that when you use the Insert > Screenshot option, there is a black border around the image. I was able to replicate this behavior as well. One thing that helped was to change the formatting after inserting the screenshot by selecting Format on the top ribbon.

As you mentioned, another option is to use the Screen Clipping tool or Insert > Picture > Picture from File. Both of these options allow me to insert an image with no thick outline.

I hope this helps!

Thanks Kelly. I have tried using Format on the top ribbon, but the Picture Styles there do not help with the black border (only the 'Soft Edge' option kind works, but it blurs the edge which I don't prefer) . The options selected from the Format are additional to the black border, so the options don't really help.

I will use Screen clipping for now, I was hoping to use the window screenshot option to increase efficiency.
