Accessibility - alt text
Apr 03, 2019
Hi,
I have an understanding that any image or chart that supports the learning should have an alt text explaining the image or chart. For text box such as slide title, we do not need to give an alt text. If the name of this text box is 'slide title' on timeline and the text inside text box is 'Objectives', how will the screen reader read this? I have attached a screenshot of this example.
Thank you,
Sarita

Hi Sarita!
If your slide title is "Objectives," JAWS will simply read "Objectives" when the learner tabs to the title object.
I created a quick sample so you can see this in action here!
Thank you Alyssa. This is helpful.
Hi Alyssa,
How about if the title is called "Heading" and the Alt text is "title" (please see screenshot attached) how will the screen reader react to that? Should the Alt text be the actual title or should it be OST or just leave it as title and it will be read by the screen reader?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
VF
Hi Viviane,
I see that you’ve reached out to our Support Engineers and are working with my teammate, Renato! You’re in great hands. We’ll continue the conversation in your support case.
