Bug? Adding new layer all base layer objects are invisible.
Oct 29, 2014
Hi All,
I previously managed to set up a screen where base layer objects were visible when showing a layer, but have tried to do this again with a fresh project and cannot make it work. Even if I have two slides side by side and duplicate the settings from the working slide - I can't get the base layer objects to work in the new slide.
In the layer settings I have 'Hide objects on base layer' unchecked and all visibility 'eye' icons are set to show in the layers' timeline labelled 'base layer'
The only way I can get it to work is to import the slide that I previously got working and amend the graphics in it to what I need for the new project. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I've worked it out. Click on the layer. Go to the stage and right click, then go to "Layout" and choose "Blank" layout. All base layer objects then appear. Curiously, going back and choosing the layout that was hiding the objects, the objects are no longer hidden. Bug?
This exact thing was happening to me too. I fixed it by following your advice and choosing a different blank layout (I have several). Thanks!
2 years later and this is still a bug?
Glad you fixed it Yvonne.
Glad this was posted. I was going crazy trying to figure out why the secondary layers weren't showing the base layer. They were even defaulting to a different slide layout not used by the original base layer.
Thanks!
Glad this thread is still here. Happened to me today and this "fix" worked. I am working in 360.

This is still a problem.
Thanks for your solution. It works well.

Only seems to happen with imported PPTs... so annoying!
Help, I am still having the issue. I tried the solution but it is still not showing the base layer.
What else can I do? It worked fine last week.
Hello Patricia and Lisa!
If the solution listed above isn't doing the trick, we'd be happy to continue troubleshooting in a support case! You can upload your project file and we'll begin testing as soon as we receive it.
