Cannot Set Initial Position For Mouse Cursor

Oct 30, 2014

Hello,

I am inserting a pointer into my slide, but each time I try this the pointer defaults to the center of the screen.  When I try to set the path the dashed line gets even shorter.  The "Enter From" option is disabled so I cannot use that option.

Has anyone else run into this issue before?

I just got Storyline 2 (not very happy with it either). I waited to upgrade till I finished a huge project I was working on. Good call there - I fear this new version would have toasted 2 years of work. Anyway I'm done venting.

Same issue Mouse Curser Enter From is disabled. This is possibly due to a recorded screen I am trying to adjust the mouse path on.  I deleted and added the mouse a few times to no avail and rebooted too.

I noticed the same problem as Racquel Garcia. The "Enter From" option was disabled when I was trying to edit the cursor. I believe this has something to do with the fact that a Mouse Cursor cannot be copied. The "Enter From" option was only disabled in a slide that was duplicated from another slide. When I went back to the original slide, the "Enter From" option was enabled. It seems as though duplicating a slide with a Mouse Cursor on it will disable the "Enter From" option on the duplicated slide.

Hi Sanjay,

Thanks for sharing that here - are you using the same update as Racquel, update 5 of Storyline 2? I don't see that Leslie was able to replicate it before, but I also don't see the additional info on copying the slides with the mouse cursor. I'm curious if you did it with a screen recording or just inserting the mouse cursor?

Hello Susie!

Have you changed the Enter From settings? You can find them here:

After deciding where the mouse enters from, you can drag the mouse anywhere on the slide.

If you see something different on your end, would you mind sharing your project with us privately? You can upload it in a support case, and we'll take a look!

I am experiencing the same problem as other users have mentioned. I tend to duplicate a lot of my slides as I go through developing a module. In the first few slides mouse enter from option is working just fine, but in the following slides where I might have duplicated from a previous slide with mouse animation, the enter from option is disabled and doesn't allow me to click it. To think that this has already been an issue 6 years ago.
