Default button color is dark blue, default button label is also blue

May 19, 2023

Somehow in my template when I go to Insert > Button, and draw my button, it is dark blue. This I fine. I like blue buttons.

So then I...

  1. right click on the button and choose Edit Text
  2. Start typing the label
  3. And then I see that the label's text color is a slightly lighter shade of blue than the background, making it impossible to read until I change it.

How do I change this default font color on my buttons so it is white instead of blue? I looked through my Theme Color settings and couldn't find what this would be.

I thought I found an answer: right-click on a button I like and choose "Update style from selection > Button Text," but this didn't work. It has been broken since 2019 (haven't we all?) according to this post: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/change-default-button-selected-color

She identified where it was getting the blue text for the button labels. It was from the body text of my Slide Master. She suggested changing the body text of the slide master to white. This fixes the button problem, but then it causes a new problem. Since my slides have a white background, all the body text is now white on white.
