Dynamic timeline

Feb 08, 2019

This is rant but also a valid feature request...

Will we ever have a dynamic timeline in Storyline? that is, if I point the playhead anywhere on the timeline, I really want to only see what's on the screen at that point, not all the assets superimposed on each other all the time. This makes simple Slide edits take way longer than they need to.

Thanks,

Eitan

Hi Eitan,

I know it's been a popular request and idea shared here in the forums for some time, as referenced by Pierre's post. Forum discussions and feature requests are one of the factors our team considers when evaluating a feature's inclusion, and this has yet not made the product roadmap. We're still listening to the feedback and I'll include this discussion in the report filed with our team.  Here's a bit more about how we work to prioritize feature requests.

Thanks for your reply, Ashley.

This feature is such a basic need so it's a bit mind blowing that it has not been implemented yet. The only way to combat this, is by choosing to design via layers in order to parse slide info in a way that is better managed, but it often defeats the purpose as this is not what layers are there for and it makes the course experience clunky and unpredictable at times.

The bottom line is that we have a timeline that supports multi lanes of data, but we cannot really use it.

Thanks for listening.

Hi, Eitan and Pierre.

I have exciting news to share!
We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 66, we've included important fixes and new features.

One of the features we've included is:

Scrub the timeline to quickly see when timed elements appear and disappear on the stage without previewing the entire slide.

To take advantage of this feature, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
