Error when publishing Storyline 3 modules

Jul 12, 2022

Hi all,

We seem to be having issues when updating module content in Storyline 3. We get error messages when publishing, does anyone know what the cause could be? I checked some of the discussion threads, and apparently modules are not meant to be updated, is this right? Our modules need constant attention and changes, as the guidance changes frequently. The majority of the content was originally built in 2016/17. Is there a set limit of how many times you can publish a module? We need to find a way to get this working again, and can't create everything from scratch again. Grateful for any hints and tips. Would copying all slides into a brand new project make any difference? Cheers.

Hello Sabine,

Updating modules is definitely something you can do in Storyline. In fact, most modules need to get updated from time to time when new content needs to be introduced, or previous content needs to be edited.

When making edits to your Storyline project files, you'll want to make sure that you are working locally, as working on a network drive has been known to cause issues with a project file. You can also try the method that you mentioned, which is to import your project slides over to a new project file

If the issue persists, you can reach out to our support team by opening a case so we can take a look at your project files.
