Export changes Khmer text

Jan 25, 2021

Dear colleagues,

I am working on an e-learning module for a customer in Cambodia (language: Khmer). The fonts we use are "Khmer OS Muol Light" and "Khmer OS Siemreap".

Our customer has confirmed that the text looks correct in the Storyline editor. However, in the Storyline Preview, in the Review system and in the HTML5 export, some letters are mixed up.

Can someone explain why this happens and how we could solve the issue? I work with Storyline 360 (v. 3.43.22859.0).

Thank you very much for your support!

Hi Marc,

Thanks for reaching out! I see you've connected with our support team, and we've discovered a bug where:

Khmer Characters aren't Displaying Properly when the Course is Previewed/Published

I'm sorry this is slowing you down, but I see my teammate, Lianne, shared a workaround to disable Modern Text. Feel free to reply back to her if you have any additional questions!

Hello James,

The following workaround was offered to me: You can try to disable the Modern Text feature by going to Design > Fonts > and unchecking Modern Text.

In our case, this did not solve the issue. According to our translators in Cambodia, some parts of the text are still displayed incorrectly.

I'm glad that the issue is now listed as a bug and I am very thankful that Articulate replied so quickly!

By the way: Our quick and dirty fix is to create screenshots of the slides. Instead of text, we now display pictures of text. This is not at all desirable, but our only option to meet the deadline.

Best regards,

Marc

Hello Errol, and thank you for your question!

Although this bug has not been fixed, Marc shared a workaround that may help you in the meantime.

We have this discussion linked should there be any updates on the issue where Khmer Characters aren't Displaying Properly when the Course is Previewed/Published, so we will keep you posted if anything changes!
