or a hotspot with no action
Thanks Nick - hotspots work too and if you're using that, you may just want to remove the hand cursor.

An important note about placing a shape over the video to prevent the user from clicking it: the shape can't be formatted with "No Fill." Instead, you must give it a fill color then make that color 100% transparent as Ryan noted above.
Also, if you go the hotspot route, you can remove the hand cursor by right clicking on the hotspot and choosing and deselecting "Show Hand Cursor on Hover."
Experience talking there Michael :) Thanks for popping in to share your experience and recommendations. That could certainly help someone that runs across this in the future.

OMG!!! This post may be a little old, but dang! Did it just save my day. It would be nice to see it as an option to disable this.
So glad to hear this was a helpful forum post, Jonathon! 🎉

And, yet again, this old post was super helpful! Interesting that in over a decade Articulate did not fix this, though. It should not be a problem anymore... the standard should be a video not be clickable, and this could be adjusted by the developer, in needed. My 2 cents.

FYI for GuilhermeTeixei and others who find this old discussion: For years, covering an object with a 100%-transparent shape was the go-to solution to prevent users from clicking a video or button. And it does prevent clicking the object with a mouse. But it doesn't prevent them from accessing the object with their keyboard.
There is a way to block both mouse and keyboard access: Show a layer that has its Slide Layer Properties set to Prevent the user from clicking on the other layers (which includes the base).
If the video or button should be accessible via mouse or keyboard at some point, a trigger is needed to hide the layer at the appropriate time. For example, it could be hidden when the media (aka, the video) completes.
