forcing a learner to enter text

How can I create a variable to not allow the state of a button to change from disabled to normal until after the learner has actually entered some text?

I have a survey question that I have chosen essay to allow the learner to share their thoughts and want to ensure they enter at least a few words before they see the option to hit submit.

I'm happy to share a suggestion with you:

Add a trigger that disables your submit button when the timeline starts if the TextEntry variable is blank.
Add a trigger that enables it when the variable changes, if the variable is different than blank.
