Graded quiz, last question won't show in the saved state when revisiting
May 28, 2020
Hi all!
I've been having some problems with a Storyline 360 quiz. The quiz is built so that all the questions are narrated and the learner is given a narrated feedback for the incorrect answers when reviewing the questions.
For some reason the last question before the result slide always works unexpectedly. The base layer seems to resume to the initial state each time when reviewing. I tried selecting the "Resume saved state" option from slide properties, but this doesn't seem to help. Because the base layer resumes the narrations overlap. I also tried selecting the "Pause timeline on base layer" option from the review layer options. But because I have some animations on the base layer, this doesn't work either.
The only viable workaround I've been able to come up with so far, is adding an empty slide between the last question and the result slide and then adding a trigger that jumps to the next slide on to it.
There's also a simplified example file attached. If someone has come up with a solution, help would be much appreciated.

Hi Tatu, I see the same issue you are experiencing. You are right, the last question always resumes with the initial state, therefore playing the audio from the beginning again. This appears to be a bug in the software. I would recommend opening a case with the file you provided.
Others may have a better solution, but I would recommend moving the question audio to another layer, and only showing the question narration layer if the quiz is not being reviewed. There doesn't appear to be a built in Storyline variable to determine if the quiz is being reviewed, and so I added one in this example.
This way, you can have all slides reset to initial state (less data saved to the LMS) and it functions as expected for all questions.
See attached file.
Hi Sam, thanks for your solution, it's worth considering. Since it seems that this is clearly a bug not a feature I submitted a case for this.
I'll keep you posted, with updates.
Hi Tatu,
I'm glad you reached out to the community and our Support team. I see you are already working with Angelo to see if we can isolate the cause of the state change.
You're in talented hands, and I'll follow the case as it progresses!
Hi there, Tatu!
I'm sharing what our team found publicly to help others who spot this conversation. We have an open issue in Storyline where:
Thanks for bringing this up, and we're here for any more questions!
Hi
Just for update we are also facing same issue. For the time being a work-around we are using is:
Add a blank slide in the question bank in the end and lock the slide to show always in end.
Set the slide timeline to 0.25 seconds or less and add a trigger to jump to next slide when timeline starts.
We also add the quiz layout in the last slide to avoid display of blank screen for just a sec or less.
Thanks Mayuresh, that's actually exactly the same solution I ended up using for now. I don't have a question bank in this particular project though.
Hi, Tatu
We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 55, we’ve included important fixes and new features.
One of the fixes we’ve included is:
Audio on quiz slide before the Result slide plays during quiz review.
To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
We appreciate your patience while our team investigated this!
