How to allow a SCORM assessment to be retaken

Sep 04, 2020

Hi,
I have Health and safety onboarding modules for a client. They are published in SCORM on our Peoplefluent LMS, in a program containing the training and assessment.

Only the assessment pushes a note to the LMS, the success status pushes a "completed" status on the program. There's a trigger on the LMS that sends a notifactions for failed/success by email.

The problem is, our client would like to have the possibility for its users to retake the assessment without ask our team for a retake licence, as it takes time to process...

They said their previous supplier site has the ability to do this : The users passes trough the assessment, saw it's results and retake it if he was failing, until they had a success and printable certificate. (but they didn't get notifications or certificates with the notes, so I suspect it was no SCORM at all...

I know you can't refresh a score on the LMS coming form the Storyline file, but anybody got somes ideas how we can trick the result slide...

- When result page shows failed = action : restart assessment from the start
- When result page shows success= action :
-produce a certificate with name, date, name of the training and result
-send the result to LMS

I think they are asking too much but it worth a try to get your precious and very competent advices.

Thanks Heroes!

Hello Équipe,

Thanks for contacting us and sharing what you would like to create with your project.

The Storyline Result Slide can allow multiple attempts as you're indicating and it is built into the software.

Adding Result Slides

Limiting Quiz Attempts

I'm not sure how your LMS will handle the updated score as you indicated, but a good test is to compare the results in SCORM Cloud.

I look forward to other ideas from the community as well on how they've handled a similar need.
