It's not possible to recover a project file from published Articulate Storyline output. You'll need the original project file to make changes to a course.
Sadly, I've learned the hard way to make multiple masters before subjecting my precious master to the Articulate publishing arena. Sometimes it gets brutalized and doesn't survive...even with Review 360! Been going on for years...even since the days of Presenter.

There is not a way to reverse a published file back to a .story file.
I have heard that there are programs to disassemble .swf files, but I cannot imagine it being less work that creating from scratch in Storyline.

The same thing happened to me. It looks like you weren't able to do anything but rewrite the entire project?
