Hi, I've just started developing eLearning. There is a good range of characters including ones that look medical. Does anyone know if there are going to be military ones and if so would there be a change of uniform or at least colour?
I doubt if they will ever offer military ones as part of the package and since Articulate licenses these images from a third party they don't offer the ability to alter them.
Bearing in mind the Global nature of the customer base, and the way that software needs to appeal to all customer, I am not sure that any software company like Articulate would ever offer a military character set.
I think that's something you are going to have to source yourself, or obtain from a niche/custom supplier.
Global - thats my point I would think that as Storyline becomes more successful they would introduce more professions, military is just an example. But they could include flight attendants, sports instructor, police officer, nurse or Christmas or other seasonal characters. They only need to due 2-3 sets per profession and it would be so easy for them to do.
Whilst I agree in principle, (and it is something that was discussed many times during the beta), our (UK) military for example, would look different from US, from French, from Dutch etc etc.
Whilst imagery adds to courses, people see it and consciously or subconsciously go "That doesn't look much like me...", and you lose your learner before you start.
It's hard enough to get realistic and useable "generic" images without starting on trying to create generic professions.
There is a huge market for images like this, one that is being investigated actively by a number of people
I really think it needs to be handled at the country level.
You can certainly work with your own characters, but not through Storyline's insert menu. The key is to build out your characters using Storyline's custom states. Here's how that can work:
This thread is a bit older, so I'm not certain Rosy is still subscribed, you may want to send her a private message to see if she's able to share the information with you.

Hi Steven,
I'd buy an early (or latester) version of Poser and add the military character set to SL
As the name implies you can get the characters to do anything and look any way.
I am looking at this apparoach for Safey based characters - ie: hi vis etc.
Regards
Garry

Is there a way to create your own characters and import them in the character choices in Storyline ?
Hi Peak -

Hi Steven, Iclone 5.3 can give you Military characters that allow you to pose them with transparent backgrounds.
Hope that helps
We finally created our own character in Illustrator and import them in PNG.
Hello, it is actually possible to dress the characters from military thanks to photoshop ... it takes 3 clicks! If you need just ask!
Hi rosy,
Could you please elaborate??
Cheers
