Motion Paths don't work with Drag-and-Drop

Sep 20, 2022

I am trying to make a drag-and-drop freeform question accessible for all learners. The question is multiple choice, so there are 4 potential answers, but only one "drop location". In an attempt to make it accessible, I have created a motion path for each answer that moves the selected answer into the "drop location" when it is selected. However, when the correct answer is selected and completes its motion path into the "drop location" and is then submitted, Storyline says "You must complete the question before submitting". So something about the motion path seems to make the correct answer unrecognizable or drag-and-drops seem to necessitate actual dragging. Does anybody know 1) why it isn't working or 2) a workaround to make it functional? It seems like it would be a relatively easy fix to Storyline that would make a cool feature like drag-and-drops (within a graded environment) accessible to all. Thanks!

Drag and drop interactions only recognize an object if the learner has physically dragged it to a drop target. If the object starts on the target, or moves there by a motion path, it is not recognized to be on the target.

Here are a couple of samples that use a click and drop method that might work.

Hello Viresh,

You can use motion paths to reset the position of the drag object with a smooth animation. I've attached a sample project file so you can see how this concept can be applied to an actual drag-and-drop slide.

The trick is to align the start and finish points of the motion path so everything lines up seamlessly.

Hope this helps!

Hello Jose,

Thanks for your response.

But I have already cracked my query myself. I have been working on this from last month. And now this one is ready to serve anyone. :)

Could you please check this one and send your valuable feedback on this? It will help me to improve my skill.

If there is any missing in interactivity please share your suggestion.
