I’m just finishing up an Articulate Storyline programme and have put a restriction on the player so that the participant cannot move to the next slide until the current one has run its timeline under Player, Navigation Restrictions, Restricted.
However, this feature isn’t working when I run the preview or Publish to Review. Should this restriction work in preview settings?
So, I'm guessing you went into the Menu Options, and you clicked on the box to Restrict Next / Previous buttons.
Now when you preview a slide or a group it will like you click on the Next and move to the next slide before the timeline ends.
First, I would check these settings. Next save, close and reopen the project and see if it works. I agree with Judy, sometimes the software acts wonky (good word). The setting should work in either review.

Restricted navigation should work in Preview and when Published.
The first thing to try is such situations is to quit and restart Storyline. Because sometimes software just acts wonky.
