No sound in Articulate Review

May 24, 2018

Hi all,

This is the second course I've published to Review and the reviewers cannot hear the audio.  (I've created a new file- renamed etc. that doesn't work either)

As you might imagine, I have a tight deadline and need to turn this around.

Please let me know if there is a solution/ work around.

Thank you,

Karyn

I am having sound problems too.   When the course first starts there is no sound but if I go to the previous slides the sound works.   I have friends that this is happening to as well.  I was using Captivate and wanted to use Articulate so I made this little test course to check things out and I have the same problem as my friends.   No sound on startup then as soon as manually I move thru the slides the sound comes on.   When I make the same course in Captivate and use the same browser I get sound so this problem is something in Articulate.

I have sound in the review but not the html5 file.  I am using Chrome.

I have attached the test file.

Any help would be appreciated.   I want to use Articulate but so many people are having sound problems that do not appear to have a solution.

Welcome, Ian! Really sorry you're running into sound issues at the beginning of your course– let's get that fixed!

I see you also opened a case with our Support Team for the same issue–nice move! Our team will reach out as soon as they've tested your file in various environments and have information to share. Expect an email shortly – I'll also follow along as the case progresses and share updates here, as needed! ☺️

Yes the problem does come from the browser. Chrome did some sort of upgrade (oxymoron??) and now you have to turn off their audio auto-play.

chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy

I am getting terrified of all upgrades. One app upgrades and now 2 others don't work. When I use my computer to earn a living and at anytime anyone can upgrade their app with no concern for what it does to other apps, that is not good.

Hello Leslie,

Does clicking on your project allow the audio to play in Review 360? Note that Google Chrome's policy prevents media from automatically playing on browser tabs that you haven't interacted with yet. Here's an article which explains this policy, and this official Google blog also explains why media does not automatically play under certain circumstances.

As a troubleshooting step, try interacting with your project file initially by clicking on it, and let me know if this allows your audio to play.
