Notification 'the project file could not be saved'

Mar 29, 2022

Hello,

I often get this notification when I want to save my project that the project cannot be saved (see picture below). This is really frustrating because sometimes I have edited a lot and then nothing is saved so I often lose 2-3 hours of work. I don't use all the specs of the program and I save everything in a cloud so I cannot imagine that I am 'low on memory'. Does someone else get this notification? And if so, does someone know how to avoid this?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Lotta, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

I'm sorry to hear that you were having an issue saving your project file.

We don't recommend working your project files into a network drive, cloud drive, or a USB drive as it can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption or an inability to save changes. See this article for more information and tips.

Please try to save your project files into your local drive and see if you'll be able to reproduce the same issue.

If so, may I confirm if the issue is happening with a single project file or just any project files in general? Can you help test by creating a new project and see if you'll encounter a similar issue?

• If the issue is specific to your existing file, please try to import your slides into a new file and see if it helps.

• If the issue generally happens on all your projects, even on new ones, please try reinstalling Storyline based on the instructions in this article.

If the issue persists, I recommend you to work directly with our support team so we can further investigate the issue. Thanks!
