Only first try at quiz recording in LMS report

Mar 22, 2016

Hi, in testing, when I fail the course and then retry the quiz and pass, our LMS is only recording the first score as a fail and the course stays on my learning plan. Is there a setting within the course build or would this be an LMS setting?  I am using Completed/Failed as report status. Success factors is the LMS.

Thanks for any and all help.

Hi, Brian -- Many thanks for your question! Would it be possible for you to share your course so we can take a closer look? And may I ask if you are finding the same when you test via the SCORM Cloud? If your course is behaving properly in the SCORM Cloud, you may need to contact your LMS provider directly for their input.

Hi Christie,  Thank you so much for answering so quickly. I attached the course and answer key for you to try.  It seems that SCORM Cloud records the last score regardless of attempts which is what I was hoping for but our LMS only records the first attempt. Ideally we want the LMS to record the last attempt.

I also searched this forum and found a potential work around that we will test in another very short course once its loaded into our LMS (morning). It had to do with changing from False to True in the Configuration.js (var SCORE_CAN_ONLY_IMPROVE = false; //set this to true to ensure that on subsequent attempts, a learner's score can only go up) Do you think this may help?

Hi, Brian -- Thanks for your reply! I tested your published output on the SCORM Cloud, and it behaved properly for me also. While I am not equipped to assist with your question regarding the workaround you mentioned, I would like to recommend that you reach out to your LMS provider directly at this point. It would be helpful to inform them that your course is functioning as intended on the SCORM Cloud.

Hi to all interested...

This is the response I received from our LMS provider.

"In order to send the score to LMS prior to closing the course or clicking exit (which triggers the chain of communication) you would need to have another trigger to commit the data such as clicking to the next slide or having a button in the course that triggers the action."

Soooo..I rebuilt the results slide by taking off the "retry quiz" button, adding a next button, creating a following slide with instructions on how to retake the quiz to maybe satisfy the trigger that they speak of..Do you think this is necessary?

Cheers

Hi, Brian -- We appreciate that you have stopped back in with an update, and if what you have set up based on their recommendation is working for you, that's great news (although it does sound a bit like taking the long way around)! I will defer to your fellow community members, particularly those who use SuccessFactors, to offer their ideas and advice to assist you further. :)
