Pause/Resume Audio on slide layers

Oct 04, 2022

Help please :) Hello, I have a base layer slide (Summary) with audio and a CC button to show transcript of the audio on a layer (Summary CC), when the CC button to show the translation is clicked the audio continues to play and therefore works exactly how I want it to.

However, I also have three further layers, each with their own audio which in turn have a CC layer to show the transcript text of the audio ( so I have 7 layers in total from the base layer) - when I click the CC button on these layers, the audio stops. Is there a way in which I can have the audio continue to play from these respective layers?

Hello Sarah,

Thanks for reaching out!

Have you tried checking your layer properties to see if any of them are pausing the timeline of your base layer?

Basically, you'll want to make sure that the timeline of the audio file is not being paused by any of your layers so that it will be allowed to continue playing until it finishes.

Let me know if this works for you!

Thank you for your response Joe. I have checked and none of them have the pause timeline checked.

The base layer and the corresponding transcript layer work perfectly. All the other layers are of the same settings but when I click the trigger button to see the transcript on the other layers the audio stops. Not sure how to resolve. Have tried looking at tutorials but nothing that explains what I am doing wrong 🤔

I have attached a copy of the project file. As mentioned, the base layer Summary, and the Summary CC slide work as they should (i.e. the audio continues to play when the user clicks the CC button), however, this is not the case for all the other layers (the audio stops when the user clicks the CC button). Any help would be very much appreciated

Thanks for sharing your project file. Try turning off the 'Hide other slide layers' option for the layers that are causing the audio to stop, and let me know if this works for you!

Since your other audio files are placed inside layers, you'll want to prevent other layers from closing them to allow them to continue playing uninterrupted.

Hope this helps!

set the Slide Layer Property for the three layers with audio to

set the Slide Player Property for the four CC layer to

and some cleaning of the CC layers

now also pause/play audio works with the layers
