I'm new to Storyline and have developed a short project, but am not able to preview it. When I press preview I am shown a blank screen. When I try to publish the project I am unable to view it.
Looking at your file and it doesn't preview for me either. Oddly, if you delete the three girls (ryt g, left g, 1st) the preview does work. Those ladies are causing some trouble but I have no idea why. I'll be curious to see what the reason is.
What version of Storyline are you using? You can check it by clicking the Help tab, then clicking on the "About Storyline" button on the ribbon.
Is the .story file on your local c:\ drive, or a network drive?
Does this happen only with one file in particular? If so, importing it into a new file may fix this issue. If this is happening in all your Storyline files when you preview, you might want to check this article out to fix erratic behavior.
Lastly, would you be able to share your .story file with the community so we can take a look?
I'm running into a similar issue - Timeline preview looks good, but when I take a look at the publish preview, everything is off. The timing, the spacing, etc. I've uninstalled/reinstalled (restarted computer) and done some additional troubleshooting with our IT dept, but no luck on a resolution.
This is not what I’m seeing in my timeline preview. The spacing in the link you provided is incorrect, according to what I’m seeing on my timeline (which is what I wish to see in my finished product).
Perhaps there’s a way I can screenshare so you can see what I’m viewing in my timeline preview? Maybe my timeline dimensions need to be adjusted or something of the sort?
Thanks! I attached a mp4 file using a software program already on my desktop.
As you can see – the formatting is off on slide one with the zoom in/zoom out region. Again, on slide two – when it zooms in and pans, the formatting and spacing is different than that of the Publish preview. ☺
I did some additional troubleshooting and turns out the Zoom Transition Speed is what trips up the formatting when viewing the Timeline preview versus the Publish preview. If you select "very slow," the spacing and formatting doesn't translate.
Thanks for the additional information that you found during your troubleshooting testing. It sounds like you may have sorted the issue out.
I do not see a video demonstrating the behavior you were seeing as you mentioned to Alyssa above, so feel free to attach that here if we need to take another look.
I just wanted to put this out there in case anyone else runs into this. I was working with a SME and for some reason I couldn't get Preview to work. It would just show the Preview page and a blank slide.
Comes to find out our IT pushed an AppBlocker update on our network and it was blocking my Preview from displaying correctly. I wouldn't of known since Articulate was working correctly otherwise. AppBlocker was also preventing me from running Camtasia. After they allowed these programs through, everything ran as designed. Unfortunately, my SME had already left.
Good find, Mike! Although sorry you were so stuck. 😕
We've also compiled a list of network endpoints and ports here that should be allowed and enabled for accessing and using the Articulate 360 suite of tools.
I had the same problem today with the Preview / Publish mode, It did'nt worked I and saw a blank page with download mode looping. I've tried to import my big file .story into a new one. Now the Preview and Publish mode work correctly.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for looking into it. Do let me know when you find out more...
Hey Red,
I think Michael nailed it.
There were a lot of individual pieces and groupings that make up those characters.
I would advise saving them as an image.
I took one slide as a test, which would not preview, and it seems to be working when the ladies are saved as pictures.
Hope this helps :)
Hi Leslie,
Thanks for help.
Same problems for the past 2 months.

Hi Stephanie, thanks for sharing your file!
I'm seeing the same behavior in timeline preview and when clicking the Preview button to view the entire project.
Here's a link to the published output -- are you seeing incorrect timing and spacing there?
Thanks for the quick response!

Hi Stephanie,
Yes, that would be really helpful! I'm having trouble pinpointing the difference between the timeline preview and Storyline Preview.
Peek is a quick and easy screen recording tool -- simply send me the URL to the Peek video once you finish recording.
I'll be standing by!

Hi Stephanie! It looks like you meant to attach a video, but it did not come through.
Instead, could you click here and attach the video to a new reply? You can also send the video directly to me privately by clicking here.
Please let me know if you received the file. Thank you
