Quiz user interface issue

Oct 19, 2022

Hello, I have deployed an eLearning where one users seems to be running into an issue with quizzes in the final assessment quiz bank. For some reason, the UI for the quizzes are getting scrambled. Unfortunately I'm not privy to the users setup, but based on screen caps they are using Chrome on Windows.

This has been the only instance of this issue of about 200+ learners, but I'd like to be able to (hopefully) find a resolution in case others arise. I have submitted 2 screen shots. I'll be happy to upload a course, but it contains confidential info.

Thank you for any help or advice you can give.

Is the BadUIQuestion.png when the user is revisiting the slide. I can see text "response." at the top, and the tick on the slide.

Is this behaviour consistent for the user on all questions, do they all appear jumbled like this when they are completing the questions, or reviewing the questions?

It could be an anomaly, but if all questions are like this, I would find more details out about the platform and see if you can replicate on the same set-up.

It would also be interesting to provide the user with another link of the same module, to see if the same issue occurs. If it doesn't, something might have just gone wrong with the load and the suspend_data has gone a bit wonky and needs resetting. If it's only 1 out of 200, it is more likely to be something localised to the user.

Hello Sam, thanks for the reply. The situation is fluid so I'll give you additional information and what my team has decided for next steps.

First, I'm unable to recreate the behavior, which is my toughest pill to swallow.

Second, to your question, in the video I received from tech support, the first 6 knowledge checks all look and perform as expected. Upon the 7th and beyond, text begins to disappear, options become jumbled or missing entirely. So, no not all questions are showing up like this, not consistent behavior. As the user progresses further into the assessment, the quiz loses it's ability to proceed, keeping the user from completing the course.

For extra context, it's a 10 question final assessment pulling from a quiz bank of 15 questions, randomized. Also, we have only seen this behavior from one user.

My next step is to ask this user to try the same course from a different browser to see if they get a the same result. Since this is a compliance course, the user needs to complete to gain credit. I'm going to work with those involved in monitoring the course completion to show the video proof the user did indeed answer enough questions correctly for the credit and allow them to move on.

I too agree its an anomaly, but was wondering if the community had ever seen something like this.
Thank you again for your feedback!

Hi Chris, I would also ask the user to to open the browser console and see if there are any errors happening with JavaScript when the questions get wonky (F12). Definitely an odd one and it does sound like there may be a problem with script executing. Good luck anyway, but if you do find errors in the console, you could ask the user to copy and send to you and get the SL engineers involved.
