Removing all audio from a Storyline360 project

Apr 26, 2023

Until Articulate comes up with an interface method to remove all of the audio from slides in Storyline 360, the best way I know how is to delete the audio files after the course is published.

Using this method will not, however, affect any programming that relies on or is keyed to the audio...the audio will still appear in the timeline, on-screen elements will still appear at their designated starting point on the timeline, if keyed to audio, triggers that rely on audio starting, ending, or playing will still function as programmed, etc. This means that each time you publish the file you will have to manually delete the audio files.

To delete the audio files, if you've published for HTML 5,

  1. Publish the course as usual. If you plan to zip the files for use in an LMS, do so after deleting the audio files.
  2. Open the folder to which you publish the course, and open the published course name folder.
  3. Open the "story_content" folder, and you should see all of the audio files listed.
  4. Highlight all of the audio files (they probably will have the ".mp3" extension), and delete them.
  5. Zip the file for upload to the LMS, if desired.

When the course plays, you shouldn't hear any audio. You may choose to adjust your on-screen elements, layers, and triggers if you no longer desire them to be synched or keyed to audio.
