Screen recording used for multiple modes

Dec 06, 2021

Hello. I am using the latest version of Storyline 360 and creating dozens of screencasts. I use the same recording for View Mode and for Try mode.

I first create the View mode in a new scene and tweak it so that the video plays the exact frames I want with perfect timings. I add text at the bottom of each slide as the steps to follow with speech to text audio. I even format the mouse. It works just fine.

My question is this: Is there a way to convert this edited View mode into a Try mode?

At the moment I have to start all over from the original recording to make the Try mode in a new scene, including re-editing each and every slide in Try mode to make all of the adjustments I already made in View Mode.

Hi, Karen.

Thank you for reaching out!

The original recording can be inserted as View, Try, or Test Mode. When you choose one of those options, the changes you make won't affect the original recording, which is why it's not possible to convert to a different mode while keeping the edits automatically.

We have a feature request logged for the ability to convert edited screen recording modes to other modes, and it's linked to this discussion, so we'll come back to update you when we have news to share.
