Slide preview update based on timeline position

May 26, 2021

Hello! I'm a new user to Storyline 360, but I did video production/editing in my past and I'm looking for a feature that is available in all video editing software -

When I put the timeline cue at a certain point in the timeline, I would like the slide preview to update to show the state of the project at that exact point (objects that are actively displayed at that point in time). It appears that moving the timeline cue bar does not update the slide preview. Is there a setting I have missed or is this just not a feature of Storyline 360?

Hi, Matthew, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! ✨

Thank you so much for the details on how you'd like the timeline scrub/preview to work! We already have a feature request logged, so I added this discussion and comments to our report.

We'll return here with an update when we have news to share.

One thought on how you could mimic this in Storyline today is by hiding the objects you don't want to see in the timeline, such as those displayed before the cue point. Then, edit the objects at the cue point and continue hiding/displaying the objects by clicking the eye icon in the timeline.

Hi, everyone.

I have exciting news to share!
We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 66, we've included important fixes and new features.

One of the features we've included is:

Scrub the timeline to quickly see when timed elements appear and disappear on the stage without previewing the entire slide.

To take advantage of this feature, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
