States have broken

Jun 13, 2022

Hiya,

States are broken after the recent update.

When I create a button and then use a format painter on other buttons (that are copies of the first button), all states aren't updated properly. Sometimes the other than normal state have their text pasted from the original, other times not.

When I try to fix this and change the text manually, then everything looks normal when I look at the states, but when I preview or publish, the old text comes back.

Try and go to page 2 in my attached file and click the button that says "Yea yeah" - Then the Hover and Down states show different texts, instead of "Yea yeah" text. And when I look at the states, all states say "Yea yeah".

Hi, elpl.

I have a few questions to narrow down the issue and help you troubleshoot:

  • Are you working from a local hard drive? We don't recommend working with files on a network drive.
  • Is this happening with one specific file or every .story file you attempt to insert pictures as states in Storyline?
  • Have you attempted to repair Storyline 360? Here are the instructions.

If a repair doesn't solve the issue, I'd like to connect you with one of our support engineers. You can open a case here

Hello Christina,

Are you able to replicate this behavior on all of your project files, or is it only happening one a specific file? If only one file is affected, would you be willing to share a copy of it here or in private by opening a support case for testing?

Additionally, would you be willing to make a recording of your issue so I can try and replicate the behavior?

For Articulate 360 subscribers, Peek 360 is the quickest way to record a screencast, and it's available for Windows and Mac. Follow the steps below:

  1. Launch Peek 360 on your computer and click New Recording.

  2. Select the application you want to record, then choose a microphone  (if you have one)  when the recording window appears.

  3. Click the red Record button and reproduce the issue.

  4. When you're finished, click Done on the recording control bar or click the Peek 360 icon in your system tray (by the clock).

  5. You can preview your recording, give it a name, and then click Upload to send it to your Articulate 360 account.

  6. Windows will notify you when it's done uploading, and a link to your screencast will automatically be copied to your clipboard.

  7. Share the link with us.
