Storyline in Rise: Buttons No Longer Work in Edge

Mar 12, 2024

Not only have buttons stopped working for storyline assets embedded in Rise courses, but also a new behavior has arisen: when you begin a storyline interaction embedded in Rise, it opens in full screen, putting a condensed set of player controls vertically alongside the right of the activity. It's an awful user experience but also - the buttons don't work anymore.

This is only a problem in Edge. Everything works as expected and perfectly in Chrome.

Anyone run into this? Any staff know of a fix?

Oh gosh, that does not look good. I would say this is a bug if it is not the same experience in Chrome. Did you try Firefox too? I'm guessing in Chrome that the player controls are aligned as expected across the bottom with full button text labels.

I would highly recommend raising an issue if you haven't already done so: https://access.articulate.com/support/contact/360-teams

Your video did give me a bit of a chuckle.

Hi Sam! I had noticed a week or so ago that Storyline (embedded or otherwise) doesn't even load in Firefox. I was going to troubleshoot it later, but I wasn't overly worried since my company's users don't use Firefox. I only noticed the Edge issues yesterday. I'm glad my existential panic can provide some amusement for you, hahah. I'm going to go through a few steps (like updating Edge) and I'll update here if anything fixes the issue.
