Storyline project file lost
I created a timeline in Storyline and cannot find the project file. It was the last thing I worked on and didn't overwrite it. I published it to Review360 - where I can see the project - but can't access the workable file. I definitely didn't delete it...any ideas?!
Hello Franklin, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊
Do you know where you saved the .story project file you were working on? You should be able to navigate directly to it when opening a file.
There may still be a working version of your project in your temp files. Here's how to check:
- Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
- Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.
- Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.
- Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.
Please be sure that you're working on your local drive with your software, files, and assets to prevent any saving issues in the future.

I have tried this - unfortunately I'm still unable to locate the file. I worked on it over a number of days so expected to find a temporary backup somewhere but to no avail. I have installed a new version of Storyline - could this have wiped the file somehow?
I appreciate the additional information, Franklin.
No. Your software installation will not affect your locally saved projects. I have opened up a support case on your behalf to work directly with one of our support engineers. You should be hearing from someone soon.

The same thing happened to me as well. IS there still not a way to download and save the file from Review 360? It seems like this has been a major problem for several years now with Storyline.
Hello Briana, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊
I appreciate you reaching out to share what you are experiencing. There is no way to get a project file from the published output in Review 360.
- Were you able to follow the directions I shared above to check your temp files?
- Are you working on your local drive, typically your C: Drive, on your software, project files, and any assets?
