Text from Visited state showing on the Hover state.

Mar 08, 2022

I have a button with Normal, Visited, Hover states. The hover state works as it should until the button is clicked and the Normal state changes to Visited.

When I 'hover' over the Visited state, the dark text on the Visited state will show through. In the image I've attached, I don't want the black text to show.

Is there a way to stop the Visited state Text/images from showing through in the Hover state?

Thanks!

Hello Dao!

I'm happy to help! Are you adding the text and images to each state or just the Normal State?

I created a slide where I have edited the Hover State and Visited State, and there isn't any overlap with the text or images. I've attached it to this discussion.

Can you share the .story file with us so we can determine what is getting in the way? You can attach it to this discussion or upload it privately in a support case.

Hello there, I am having the same issue as Dao. I have a hover state with white type, and a visited state with dark type. Once the button is visited, the hover state adopts the dark type. I am including a screen shot of my slide in Storyline next to the published preview. You can't see the cursor hovering in the screen shot, so trust me that the button is being hovered. :) I get the same problem when I preview the slide in Storyline.

Hi Josh!

Sorry to hear you've run into issues with hover states from your Storyline course!

I see that you've also opened a support case and connected with my colleague Philam. Smart move! It looks like Philam shared this behavior is related to a bug where objects added inside the object's states overlap when the state changes.

I've linked this discussion to the bug report and will provide updates as soon as a fix is in place. In the meantime, as a workaround, we suggest:

  • When using the change state trigger, set the object to change only from Built-in to Built-in States or Custom to Custom states.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Sorry if this has been slowing you down!
