Using Cue marks to be like YouTube Timestamps with Titles?

Jul 10, 2023

I was wondering, and I understand this is most likely not possible, but if it is I wanted to ask. Is there a way to use cue marks in Storyline 360 to show up for the learners within the scroll bar or on the screen through triggers to allow them to jump to different parts of a video if they need to review or go back to a certain part specifically? These different areas would also have titles like in YouTube videos.

I am working to make a software training and want one slide to have an option where I can place down each step within the "learn it" part be clickable to go back and start from that spot if they needed to.

I can picture probably needing to do this with buttons, cue marks and triggers, but was wondering if there was another way to do it. Thank you!

Hi Salena,

Great question! I understand you'd like to use cue points as time stamps on the player's seek bar. I'd be happy to get some information to you about that!

Cue points in Storyline are tools for the developer to be able to sync different elements of a course like audio to slide content. Cue points aren't able to be displayed to the learner on the seek bar.

We currently have the ability to add timestamps to the seek bar logged as a feature request, so I’ll go ahead and include your voice. We’ll update this discussion if there’s any news regarding this feature.

Thanks for reaching out!
