Professional Portfolio and Resume Review?

Jul 07, 2023

Hi all,

I'm looking to hire someone to review my resume and portfolio so I can be sure I'm putting my best foot forward. Who have you used for a professional review? I'd really like the reviewer to have experience in the L&D industry. Thanks!

Thank you David but...HOW TERRIFYING. Good suggestion though.

My portfolio can be found here. For anyone reviewing it, please be honest but gentle, and it may be better to use the "Contact Me" link on the web page to send me feedback.

Note: The eLearning courses are currently hosted on Articulate Review 360, but I'm trying to move them to a better location. I can also start a new thread for anyone who wants to share their portfolio as well. Maybe we can help each other.

I'd be happy to review others portfolios too, whether they review mine or not.

Overall, it looks great. Here's my 2-cents' worth of suggestions:

  • To me, the info about voice-over work seems like you're not focused on ID, because you're highlighting a fall-back gig. You could still refer to it, but consider making that less prominent.
  • The big thing that stuck out to me is the PDF sample—with someone else's copyright and contact info at the bottom.

    • If you have gotten explicit permission from that company to show content that they own, that should be stated. As is, it looks like you don't mind violating copyright laws.
    • Still, even that sort of disclaimer might be overlooked, and anyone can download the PDF. So (assuming you have permission to use that content) consider redoing it to remove company-identifying info.

Judy, thank you so much. You bring up some excellent suggestions, and I will be making some changes to the site. I do want to be able to show work I've done in the past, but you are correct about the copyrights. I'll have to think on the best way to showcase work I've done without violating copyrights.
