Before the Boycott: Riding the Bus is a course I co-developed in 2010 for the National Civil Rights Museum. Last year, I converted the course to HTML5 using Storyline 3. The course is designed for middle schoolers and places the student in the role of a reporter witnessing the discriminatory practices on Montgomery, Alabama buses in 1955. The output of the experience is a customized article. I'd appreciate the community sharing the link with their teacher friends.
Incredible work, Bob. This was so thoughtfully done. Having the learner be the reporter is such an interesting and empathetic perspective. And the newspaper generator is awesome. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you, Sarah. Our goal was to create a meaningful experience that would prove memorable to students. We had an incredible partner in the National Civil Rights Museum. I was really pleased that this course, which had in 2010 pushed our Flash actionscript and animation capabilities to the limit, was relatively easy to recreate in Storyline.
