3D Models in Storyline
Hi,
is it possible to insert 3D Models and having the leanrers to rotate it with their own mouse? If not yet, when will this be available? I find this very useful and have seen it at the Learntec.

Is there any update on this? I have numerous 3D objects that I created in blender and other programs that are saved on my computer that I would like to be able to use in Storyline. Thanks.

I'm currently putting together a solution for this. Adding models is fairly easy, but the customization I'm aiming for is more tedious. I should be able to post something within the next few weeks.

Please see this post regarding a customizable 3D model viewer for Storyline.

Adding my vote for 3D object support. This would be a fantastic feature to add. Here's hoping it pops up on the roadmap soon.

I can help you with that!
Articulate Storyline itself doesn't currently support inserting and directly interacting with 3D models. However, there are a couple of workarounds you can try:
- Embed a Web Object:
* Find a website that allows you to publish 3D models with interactivity, like BioDigital Human.
* Publish your model and copy the link.
* In Storyline, insert a Web Object and paste the link.
* Learners will be able to view and interact with the 3D model through the website within your Storyline course.- Use Images from a 3D Model:
* This method involves creating multiple screenshots of the 3D model from different angles.
* You can use PowerPoint's 3D model insertion feature (if you have Office 365) to achieve this.
* Import these screenshots into Storyline as separate image states for a picture.
* With triggers, you can simulate a rotating effect when learners click and drag on the image. While these are workarounds, they can still add some level of engagement with 3D content in your eLearning courses.
As for future support for native 3D models in Storyline, there is no official announcement from Articulate. You can stay updated by checking their community forums or contacting their support team.

Another vote for 3D objects here! This feature is definitely needed.
Thanks for voting for 3D object support in Storyline 360! I've informed our product team of your need.
In the meantime, if you have additional comments regarding your use case, please feel free to share them. I'd be happy to add them to the feature report.
Thanks so much for sharing an update with us, Glenn! It's good to know that the issue seems to be isolated to that one LMS system and is working as expected in the other LMS you tested!
If any other questions come up, feel free to reach out!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Glenn,
Thanks for sharing your file! I see it works as expected in Review 360, great news!
I went ahead and tested your course in SCORM Cloud, and it is behaving as expected on my end.
I recommend contacting your LMS provider to see if there is a setting or workaround that can be adjusted once your course is uploaded to the LMS since it seems isolated to that environment where the 3D model is not behaving as expected.
Let us know if any other questions come up!

Hi Luciana,
Thanks for testing. I just tested it in another LMS and everything seems to work just fine. So yes there must be an issue with my LMS system.
Thanks a lot for your help!!

Hi Lauren,
Just added the storyline file in the attachment.
Below you allso have a link to the review where you can see that everything just works fine. In the review it is possible to turn the 3D model by clicking and to zoom the 3D model by scrolling.
WHen you publish this storyline file to LSM you will see it does not work anymore, moving/turing en zoom does not work.

I hope someone knows the sollution.

To enable insert 3D objects, instead of using the web link will be a big improvement for storyline 360. Not only for training, it can also be used in many other places. I know for some reason this must be a difficult thing to do, but please, please push for it. We instructional designers are eager to have this feature.
Hi Tunan!
Thanks for the feedback on the type of functionality you'd like to see in Storyline!
I've included you in the feature report and will update this discussion if it makes it onto our Feature Roadmap. Have a great start to your week!
