Accessibility and Feedback Slides

When using keyboard controls, there is a small rectangle on the upper left hand corner of all my feedback layers, and I can't identify what is in focus. This happens on any question slides. The small rectangle appears immediately after I click submit. I'm just not sure what SL is reading here and whether it can be removed. This happens on any quiz slide after clicking submit. Would anyone be able to explain to me what it is doing?

Thank you!

  • Hi Mallory!

Great question! The box at the top of the slide is indicating that you're starting from the top of the focus order.

You can remove the Focus Rectangle in the screen reader settings. For JAWS, the setting is under Visual Tracking and for NVDA it's under Vision.

  • hi Lauren,

not sure if its the same issue. NVDA is picking up a rectangle "main landmark clickable rectangle 4" after submitting right or wrong answer. the client doesn't want this rectangle to be picked up by the screen reader. not clear how to remove this getting picked up by NVDA. could you pls advise.

      Hello Subbu!

You can remove objects so they aren't read by a screen reader.

To remove an object from the focus order, select it in the list and click the Remove button in the lower left corner of the window.

Removing an object from the focus order doesn’t delete it from the slide. It only hides it from keyboard navigation and screen readers.

I've recorded a short demo if you'd like to see these steps in action.
