Accessibility for a screen reader

Hi all,

Hope someone can help with this.

I am trying to find a way to let someone with limited visual ability using the SPACE button on the keyboard to enter their name in the box. Wonder how I can do this?

I aim that a blind/visually impaired person can control the course using their keyboard + screen reader only.

Thanks for your help.

  • Hello P D!

Great question! You can tab to a text entry field and use the SPACE bar to select the text entry field. The user can then type in their name and then tab to the Continue button and select that by using the SPACE bar or Enter key.

Let me know if you have additional questions!

HI Lauren, thank you for this. I managed to use the tab key and enter name now. One question about Accessibility, I am using  JAW to test an e-learning course and would like to know if there is an option for JAW to not pick up the slide title and only focuses on what shows on the screen?

  • Hi P D,

Thanks for asking about this! Whether or not you are able to omit the title from the screen reader depended on where the title is located. Here's a link to a previous conversation explaining more!

    I hope this helps!
