Accessible text animation bug

Am I the only one who has a big problem when animating accessible text by paragraphs? The first two paragraphs are always displayed too close together. The other paragraphs are displayed with the correct distance (see attached image). I already talked about it to the support a while ago, and they suggested to put each paragraph in a single textbox, but this takes so much more time and effort! I hoped this bug will be fixed in the new update. It is not so unusual to animate text by paragraphs, is it? So why is it not possible for accessible text?

  • Hi Karin!

I'm happy to share that we just released Storyline 360 (Build 3.83.31444.0) which includes the fix for the bug where text in shapes that animated by paragraph had spacing issues.

Now all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app to take advantage of the newest bug fixes and features!

If you run into any issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team by submitting a support case.

  • Hi Karin,

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with animating by paragraph using accessible text! I appreciate you bringing this up to support and I'd love to help with this.

Using the latest Storyline version, I created the attached project with text separated by paragraph spacing in a single textbox. I upgraded the project text and then added animation by paragraph. Fortunately, I did not see the reported issue when tested in LMS and Review 360. Here are the links to my published output if you'd like to view it as well:

The issue also doesn't seem to happen with the previous Storyline version, Build 3.81.31200.0. But if you want to test with the latest 64-bit Storyline version, here's how to install it.

Let me know how it goes on your end, and I'll be more than happy to assist further.

      Hi Eric,

      thanks for your quick reply.

This is really funny. I couldn’t reproduce the problem either when creating new text in a new project file.

The issues occurs however in existing files (from about 1 year ago) when I take these steps:

      1. Updating design of project file: Tab “Design” > Fonts > Upgrade Project Text
      2. Setting built-in variable Player.AccessibleText to Right.

Then the animation “Fade in by paragraph” displays the first two paragraphs too close together:

      I uploaded an example here:

      https://360.articulate.com/review/content/381d75ed-868b-45c2-850a-cb1a478d499e/review

As I have lots of old project files that need to be updated to accessible text, this is incredibly annoying and time consuming to divide each text that is animated by paragraphs (and there are myriads of them) manually in single text objects, align them to the narration and animate them ... I think you know what I mean.

Is there any chance that you can fix this problem, even if it does not affect new projects?

      I would be so grateful!

      Kind regards

      Karin

      • Hi Karin!

Thanks for the update! Have you seen the same behavior when opening your existing projects in our most recent update of Storyline 360? If not, can you see if that does the trick?

Our most recent update is Update 82 (Build 3.82.31354.0).

    Hi Lauren,

I've got great support from Mr Banga, one of your co-workers, and he found out that the spacing problem only happens, when I use the option "Multiple" for spacing!

I also downloaded the latest update for Storyline that is supposed to fix the issue where paragraph spacing is ignored when accessible text is enabled on a text box that's animated "by paragraph".

Actually, the issue is still present in older files. But now I can fix this problem by changing the spacing from multiple to another option.

Thank you so much for your support, you saved my day!
