ADA Compliance with Building Courses in RISE (Compliance Training)
Hi, anyone know about this and if narration is required? What are the best practices using RISE? Thank you!

Hi Anna,
Videos
If you are using videos, they must have synchronized captions (people who are deaf). If the video has images that are more than decorative, the images need to be explained in audio (people who are blind).
Slide Narration
You are not required to have narration. However, if you do have narration, the screen text must be accessible to a screen reader.
I'm not sure what your question is in regard to RISE.
Cheers,
Julie

Thanks, Julie. I was just wondering if RISE had any features that are conducive to ADA requirements., etc

Does anyone have an update on this? I am using RISE and would like to know if it's ADA compliant and compatable with JAWS? Thanks!
Hi Jeff,
Great question! Rise 360 isn't fully accessible yet. Our ultimate goal is to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). So far, we’ve added these accessibility features:
• Increased contrast for built-in course features
• Alt text for images: https://articulate.com/support/article/Rise-How-to-Add-Alternate-Text-to-Images
• Keyboard-accessible navigation: https://articulate.com/support/article/Rise-Keyboard-Accessible-Navigation
And we’re currently working on full-screen reader support. Keep an eye on our "What's New" page and the Rise 360 release notes for details:

• Rise 360 release notes: https://articulate.com/support/article/Rise-Version-History

Is there a closed caption option? Or is it in the works. I work for a state agency and I must be able to have full WCAG 2.0 compliance before I can produce anything in rise.
Hi, Katie. At this point, you cannot add closed captioning directly in Rise 360.
If you have a video hosted on a web platform (e.g. Vimeo) that includes closed captions, or if you have Storyline 360 content with closed captions, you can include them in your Rise 360 course!
We'll update this discussion with any changes with closed captioning.

Hi Concerning closed captioning, would Rise accept my MP4 video if it already has closed captions on it? i noticed someone had said that they couldn't see the closed captions they had already put closed cations on. When he uploaded into Rise, he didn't see them.
I know about Storyline and and adding your srt. there but you have to do the script first and I don't want to do that.
I have a service that burns the cc on the video already. Then would like to load it into rise project.
Hope it can be done.
Thank you
Mikki
Hi Mikki!
I'd like to know a little more about the final video file. If the video is remade into another .mp4 that has text overlay, it should work fine. Do you have a video file with captions you can test?
Good news, everyone!
Now you can make your videos accessible by adding closed captions in Rise 360. Simply import a caption file for each language you want to support. Check out the video demo in this discussion, and find more details here!

If we put text in a photo gallery that moves horizontally, will a screen reader miss the text? In other words do screen readers just see the first image/text of the photo gallery and then continue moving vertically down the page and miss the rest of the images and text in the gallery?
Hi Jenny!
We're still working on screen reader support for Rise 360. Once that feature is ready, it should read all of the important pieces of the photo gallery block so learners using a screen reader won't miss any images or details.

I'm having clients ask about Rise being ADA compliant right now. Are there any updates on this front?
