Adding a Pause Button to the Player
Hi Everyone,
I am still creating my first storyline presentation - a software simulation with mouse movements, etc., and want to give the user an option to pause the presentation if he/she needs to review a screenshot, etc., but the Player button only includes Next and Previous.
There is NO audio in this video..only annotated screenshots, so the need to pause audio is NOT a concern.
I know I can add layers to each slide and trigger each slide to its designated layer, but that would take forever. Is there an EASY way to do this? Are there free download Player templates that might include the Pause/Play option?
Thanks for your help!
Peggy

Hi Anu! You can add a play/pause button to the player simply by enabling the seekbar in the player properties window.
Can you tell me more about why you would want a stop button? How would that button function differently than the pause button?

Alyssa,
Honestly, the seekbar is really distracting across the bottom of the screen. I have never liked using it and always have removed it from eLearning (I would rather see time duration). It's extra and unnecessary animation. It would be helpful if there could be a play/pause button that we could use on the player for when we have created screencasts in View Mode. The learner can just pause and resume the eLearning as needed.

Hello Ma'am,
Thanks a lot for your humble response .
I have a problem with Quiz. It is not refresh when i am choosing resume option.
I completed the project with quiz . again i open project it tells prompt message Resume/Restart ,i choosed resume option then quiz is seen in already checked correct option and i had not option of submit . Quiz part is read only and given next button option for jump to next slide of project.
I want to user attempt quiz in unlimited basis , in case user have to choose both Resume/ Restart option.
Hi Anu! You can retake a quiz once you reach the results slide. Include the option to retake the quiz, and Storyline will reset the quiz slides so that you can choose Submit again.
If you resume a course after reaching the results slide, unless you choose to retry the quiz, it will show the quiz slides in Review mode when you revisit them.
Let me know if that helps!
Hi Nikki,
The play/pause button are built-in to the seekbar, but if you'd added a video on a slide, have you looked at enabling the video controls? That would allow you for further control while on the slide itself without the player seekbar.
You could also look at creating a custom button, that once you've added the triggers to play/pause media based on a users' click would allow you to have the learner pause a video as needed.
Hi Nikki,
Thanks for letting us know what you'd like to see! It sounds like a pause/play button without the seekbar would work better for you. I'll let our development team know about your idea!

Good morning,
I'm working in Storyline on a course, and I'd like to add in a Play/Pause button, but not have the seekbar. The course is fairly long, and I don't want the seek bar acting as a visual indicator. The menu is engaged, so navigation is done that way. Do you know how I can add in the Play/Pause without the seekbar? I see the answers from a few years ago; it looks like it wasn't possible at that point, but maybe something has been implemented at this point?
Thanks for your help!

You can customize it with Javascript and CSS and make the 'seek'-part invisible. Try using your console in the browser to test it.

Hmm, sounds promising -- however, I'm not a coding expert. Do you know how I would do this? (or a link to somewhere if it's already been explained, would be great!)
