Player Submit Button Glitch?

Hey!

Curious if anyone else has experienced the following. I have created a course assessment with various question types, but mostly multiple choice. Users have three attempts to complete the entire assessment and must retake it in full if they fail to meet the cut score. Through testing, I've noticed that whenever I select the wrong answer, the player makes me click "Submit" twice before it accepts my choice. This does not happen when I select the correct answer which will immediately accept my choice. It's almost as if the player is checking hinting when I am wrong.

To be clear, I am using the Submit button on the slide settings vs. adding a button to the slide itself. It appears to be some kind of glitch as I cannot find anything in the player or slide settings that resolves the issue. I also do not have any variables in play that would impact this functionality that I am aware of - nothing intentionally programmed.

Learners are savvy, especially when they want to get out of compliance training. I could see where they may pick up on this player behavior and change their selection before clicking "Submit" again until they suss out the correct answer i.e., a loophole.

Appreciate any insights anyone can share!

I've never heard of that issue before, but I trust PhilMayor and his expertise. Here's what I think his point is:

If you delete the Try Again layer, but the question is still set to allow 2 attempts, the program still thinks it should show the Try Again layer if the user answers incorrectly the first time. But it can't do that, so it does nothing. When you click the Submit button again, you've used up the attempts, so the program shows the Incorrect layer (which still exists).

Thus, to fix the issue, be sure the Attempts field is set to 1.

  • Did you set a try again and then delete the try again layer? this is the main reason that happens.

      Hey Phil,

Interesting! The template did have a Try Again layer but I deleted them. Double checked my slides to confirm the layer is gone.
