Double glitch: font size and indentation

The course I'm working on has two errors that I can't seem to kick:

1. On some slides (and without any consistent pattern), the first line of text is negatively indented. The other possibility is that the first line of text is getting a negative margin but whatever's causing it, I can't find the source of the issue.

    

2. The course experienced is customized based on the user's selection of their business area. Sometimes that means they're given different scenes, and sometimes it's just text that's unique to their business.
   In the attached file, users select their business area on slide 1, then on slide 2 they are given a customized first sentence. In this instance and only this instance, the variable text does not match the font size of the rest of the text box:

   The two pieces of text are currently separated with a line break, and when I remove the line break, all of the text goes to the smaller size.

The second slide attached stripped-down Storyline file demonstrates both issues. I appreciate any light you can shine on why these errors many be happening!
