Adding own characters in scenario block

Character Images are just PNG's in the assets folder of your export, you could just replace them with your own, just make sure they're named the same.

if you have software that creates animated SVG's you can also use them

It looks like right now we can only use the characters in the content library. I would definitely encourage you to submit this idea as a product feature if you haven't already!

Also, you can add animated Gifs as the background images which can help to bring it alive

Interesting... Will try that. But the old gif format with 8 bit colours does not feel like the future. I wonder if different png formats such as apng could work, hmmm

I agree that it would be awesome if we could add our own characters straight in Rise for more customization! I think it'd be easier to preview the scenarios straight in there, and would make sure no replacements are missed when re-exporting the course out though.

I would love to be able to add my own characters as the character images in the content library look a little too American. 

I've been replacing them after publishing like Craig also suggested, but it would be nice to know that my client didn't have to do that after I leave the project.
