Adding to the Quiz point variable manually

I have a final scored quiz, and one of the questions learners must identify all five screens correctly in order to get the points for a correct response.  I set it up as five questions, to keep the screen image e question. In order to maximize the size of the image shown, I created five separate questions.  Learners  get 10 points if they answer all five parts correctly and zero points if they get any part incorrect.  I was not sure if this could be done in Storyline, so I was setting up a trigger to manually add 10 to the built in variable Quiz1.ScorePoints, but I cannot get it to work.  I created a variable to track if they get all five parts of the question correct and that is working correctly.  If I need to share the source file for an answer, I will open a ticket.  Is it possible to add to the Quiz1.ScorePoints using a trigger?

As far as I know, it’s not possible to directly modify built-in variables in Storyline. However, you can create a custom score variable that mirrors the value of Quiz1.ScorePoints. Then, using an additional trigger, you can add 10 points to this custom variable when the final score is calculated. Keep in mind, though, that this custom score variable will not be reported to the LMS, only the built-in scoring variables are tracked and submitted.

  • Thank you for that information.  We would need the learner's accurate quiz value reported to the LMS, so it sounds like the custom variable will not work for this circumstance.
