AI Generated Images - EU AI Act Compliance: Will Articulate 360 Automate AI Content Labeling?

Hi everyone,

As many of you are aware, the EU AI Act is bringing some significant changes to how we handle digital content. Starting August 6th, there will be a clear legal requirement within the EU to label AI-generated content, specifically images and media that could be mistaken for authentic "real-world" content.

As instructional designers, we are increasingly using Articulate’s built-in AI image generation features to speed up our workflows. However, to stay compliant, these assets need to be clearly labeled. The Act even suggests that these labels should ideally be machine-readable.

So i have a few questions:

  • Integrated Metadata/Watermarking: Is there a roadmap for Articulate to automatically include metadata or a digital "watermark" in images generated within the app?
  • Custom Branding/Trademarks: Many of us use our own AI-generated assets alongside the built-in ones. It would be even better if we could upload a custom watermark or "AI-generated" disclaimer in the course settings or media library that automatically applies to all AI assets.

We love the efficiency that AI brings to our e-learning development, but we want to make sure we’re protected legally come August.

Looking forward to hearing your insights!

    Thank You Steven,

im looking forward to hearing more from your team on this.

I also wanted to highlight that this challenge isn't limited to images—it also significantly affects audio tracks generated via AI. Currently, to stay compliant, I am manually adding a disclaimer in the captions (e.g., 'Transparency notice: This audio track was created using artificial intelligence and has been editorially reviewed (AI-generated in accordance with Article 50 of the EU AI Act).').

However, this is far from ideal as it occupies space originally intended for accessibility and pedagogical purposes. It would be fantastic if Articulate could implement a standardized, automated field for AI-generated audio. Having a dedicated placeholder or metadata tag that automatically populates when using a Text-to-Speech (AI) voice would allow us to keep the captions clean and focused on their actual goal.

Looking forward to seeing how Articulate plans to streamline this for us!
