Absolutely 100% correct take. Hoping this is a wakeup call. It's like when my Chevy went dead because of an over the air update that went bad. Companies need to stop trying to control us when they take our money and instead do everything they can to make things easier, more reliable, and more flexible. Not the exact opposite. But there are no real competitors in this space, and they know that.

Incorrect ! There are competitors... and good ones too. Only their marketing is less. ELB Lectora, SmartBuilder, Dominknow One, easyGenerator, Elucidat, Absorb and many many more. All depends on your needs.

Of course their are competitors but no one that has the complete feature set of Storyline.
That's why they were able to easily take away market share from Captivate. No one else has come close since.
Who do you use instead? Why are you still here using Storyline especially given how expensive it is?

We use Lectora, and it does everything Storyline does. And more. Only thing that is better is this community. On that part ELB lacks. We keep Storyline because We have older projects to maintain. When time permits We convertthem to Lectora.

I don't want to say that other programs aren't great, but we aren't looking for simple, cloud-based pseudo tools or LMS's. We build complex simulations in a secure network environment. Of those, only Lectora (as far as I am aware) is a legitimate contender. Even then, Lectora has a need to also constantly be online, unless you want to "activate by phone" every time you open it (older versions, unsure if that's how it works now).
That said, I'm not interested in shopping; I'm interested in making an already good tool better, and assisting Articulate in understanding how the impairment of that tool can affect very specific industries or learning groups.- MikeAndrews-c603 months agoCommunity Member
The real solution here is that there is no reason for Storyline to be so aggressive in phoning home and should have a longer grace period particularly when servers go down. It should simply wait longer until they come back online, for an already authenticated paying customer. This should NEVER happen.
