The ability to add background music, or audio that plays across slides, is still an open feature request with our team. This conversation is attached to share any updates with you here in the future, but I do not have an update at this time.
I haven't come across other ideas outside of the community workarounds involving code here and here, but you've probably already reviewed those. I'm hopeful folx will chime in here with more thoughts!
