Moving a module

As an organisation, we have two seats: an Admin seat and a seat where colleagues build modules. Once these are ready, we would like to transfer these modules to the Admin seat. This way, we don't run the risk of modules being accidentally deleted when another colleague uses this seat. Who can tell us if this is possible and how?

Moving content depends on which software you are using. Let's move toward some shared vocabulary.

Anything you've typed, inserted, or pasted into Storyline will stay in the .story file. Master Slides, actively used themes, player customizations, and publication settings should also be carried over without a problem. But the colleague might build a theme or template, and those have to be saved separately and shared. Alternatively, you can leverage the Team Slides, provided you are both on the same Team's Account. Critically: never work from a network drive or OneDrive! Before editing the file, move the file to a drive that is not cloud-synching and to which your computer will directly-write; then manually move the file back to where you want to archive it, even a network drive or OneDrive. We've been warned that there is something about the way those cloud-network drives save stuff that can lead to corruption. I saw a lot of this during my time in animation, and I understand those same best practices to still apply with Storyline & Studio 360 files.

I haven't touched Studio 360 much, but project media best practice has usually been to create a project folder which keeps all of your resources together. I would recommend saving .intr from Studio with the .ptt from PowerPoint; and just make it a rule that you always move the whole project folder, never the lone files. My team does this with Storyline and Rise files as well: everything gets put into one folder (audio, images, links, course source files), and we move the whole folder from an archive to our computer before opening.

In Rise, you'll want to "Change a Collaborator’s Role", instructions for which can be found on the Rise 360: Work on Content with Other Team Members Page.

    I hope that helps,

  • Hi MarliesKraamer-!

Glad to see Pierre has been helping you!

Are you referring to Rise 360 content? If so, the original author of that content can send copies of the courses to an Admin's Articulate ID. However, that Admin must also occupy a Creator seat in order to view or edit those courses.

Also, can you clarify what you meant by "modules being accidentally deleted when another colleague uses this seat" ? Rise 360 content remains tied to the author's Articulate ID unless they choose to delete the content from their dashboard or transfer ownership. If you're referring to an Admin managing Creator seats, the Admin can elect a new Articulate ID to inherit content from the previous occupant of a Creator seat.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
