Base Layer Content Flashes on When Displaying Layers Containing 360 Degree Images

Hello,

I'm using 360 degree images to represent a few locations in an interactive assessment. Each location is a 360deg image with an activity on it.  There are two ways to move between locations, a 2D mini-map or a 3D arrow on the floor.

When one changes to a new location containing a 360 image (there are other 2d layers for pop-ups), the base layer flashes on for a fraction of a second. Initially, the base layer contained a 360 deg image and I thought maybe this was the cause. All it contains now is a dark full-screen rectangle but it displays that too.

Anyway, try as I might, I can't seem to stop this. If  anyone has had this problem and knows a workaround (other than putting each location on a separate slide); I'd appreciate your response very much. Is there some kind of pre-loader/buffer one can access/turn on?

I should add that I've only tested it in preview.

Thank you.

  • Hi Mark,

Thanks so much for reaching out about this!

Are you willing to share a screen recording of what you're seeing or your project file with our team? This will be helpful to better understand what's going on. You can upload those here or share them privately in a support case, and we'll delete them from our systems once troubleshooting is complete!

  • Hi Kelly,

Thank you for your quick response. I've shared a recording with my support case.

Some additional information that might help someone with a similar problem, is that the blip only happens the first time a layer displays. Upon returning to a previously visited location, the refresh happens instantly. My guess is that it's a preload/buffering issue.

  • Hi Mark,

Thanks so much for sharing that additional info in this thread! I'm sure other community members will appreciate it if they're running into a similar situation on their end.

Great call opening a support case! One of our talented Support Engineers will be in touch shortly via email. Thanks for your patience.

Have a wonderful start to your day and happy authoring! 🎉

  • Thank you, Luciana.

Some feedback: it turns out that this is likely a bug and I suspect it is low on the priority list for a fix.

I've made it more palatable by adding a dark, stylized perspective image of a tunnel to the base layer. It only flashes for, at most,  1/2 a second and hints at travelling from one place to another. This gives the impression the display glitch is there by design instead of just a bug.

      Hi Mark!

Thank you for following up and sharing your workaround with the community!

I see that you connected with my teammate Philam through a support case. It looks like Philam logged this issue as a potential software bug. I've linked this discussion to the bug report so you can be notified as soon as a fix is in place.

Thank you for your patience, and I'm sorry if this has been slowing you down!
