Base layer grayed out - but I don't want it to be!

I have a slider interaction with 3 added layers - one for each slider position.

First of all, here is my course:

https://360.articulate.com/review/content/756c2ea3-f4c9-4e71-b943-bfb2a9566bd2/review

I have unchecked all the boxes about dimming the base layer and hiding other layers (I have variables set to hide). Still - my slider and text on the base layer (round brush) looks grayed out until I go down and back up the slider and return to the base layer. Then the grayed out look goes away. When I refresh the course, it starts all over again. How do I fix this?

  • Two things:

The boxes about dimming only refer to development, not when in use.

Seeing the project in Review makes it difficult to help you. If you will come here and attach your .story file, someone can take a look under the hood, and see why it's doing what it's doing.

  • Yes, but look at it in Review - when you move the slider down, it looks gray, but then when you move it back up to the top, it is fixed. I tried reloading it up to Review but it still does the same thing!

I am not sure what is grey the slide itself or the video looks to me as it is built

The video is fine - it is the items on the base layer that gray out when the slider is moved down - but then when moving back and passing through the slider again, the slider and words are back to normal

  • The layers are not hiding one another so you could set the player properties back to hide other layers and then remove your triggers, also you jump to the slide when it is 1 which is not really needed.

I have changed a few things around should do what you want,

  • Hi Phil, thank you so much for taking time to help me- I'll take a look, thanks!

  • Phil - When I go back to "Round", the bristle brush video shows and the round brush video is hidden - the grayed out is fixed but now the videos aren't showing correctly.

  • I had added the Jump to slide when it is 1 to stop the round brush video - it was continuing to play when the slider was moved to another video.

  • Alright - I changed the variable value to 1 - it had 2 values of 2, I think that was the problem. This works a lot better - thank you!
