Best Practices for Publishing Courses for users on a VPN
Is there a set of best Publishing settings on courses for LMS users that may be on a VPN? For example: is it better to publish with SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004? Or any other settings under the publish section in Storyline that would be best practice?

I work at a company with a VPN. We use scorm1.2 and haven't had any problems.
Users have to be on campus or logged into the VPN to access the LMS anyways.

Our company has published to both versions of SCORM and had employees successfully complete training that was delivered over the VPN.
I would say that if you're concerned about "eating bandwidth" to check with a reliable source within your IT department. But unless your material consists of HD videos and heavy graphics, I wouldn't think that your choice of SCORM versions would affect the user experience when delivering over VPN.

To echo the previous replies, your SCORM version shouldn't have an impact on users connecting through VPN.
In general, VPNs shouldn't have much impact on performance, unless the user's internet connection isn't very fast (or stable).

Generally, SCORM 1.2 is more widely supported and simpler, making it a safer choice for VPN users. However, if your LMS supports SCORM 2004 and you need features like better tracking and bookmarking, it could be the better option. Ensure your course is light and optimized for slower connections, and consider adjusting the "Launch in new window" setting for better performance on VPNs.
